Broadband in New Hampshire
This state is the thirteenth most connected in the United States, with only about two percent of the total population lacking access to broadband internet. The largest internet service providers in the state are Xfinity, FairPoint, TDS, and Spectrum. Legislation like SB 170 came into action in 2018, allowing municipalities access to public internet platforms, a move aimed at cementing the state’s resolve to open up local authorities to broadband investments. The New Hampshire Broadband Mapping and Planning Program (NHMPP) seeks to understand the availability of broadband service in NH, ways of improving accessibility in the future, and effective avenues of increasing broadband adoption and use.
