Broadband in Alabama The Alabama Broadband Accessibility Act was established in 2018 to increase high speed internet availability to rural areas of the state. It aims to deliver at least 10 mbps download speeds (and as much as 25) through a series of broadband accessibility grants. Carriers will be able to cooperate with electric companies to utilize existing wire networks and infrastructure, in hopes of incentivizing providers to roll out internet to underserved areas.
